Inspiration…

I LOVE making inspirational quote signs and distressing!! I am actually very drawn to this look when I see house decor..shabby sheik. I'm working on a beautiful white wash sign right now that I will post when it is done.
EVERYONE should reach for the stars, be inspired and go after your dreams. Changes can be scary but if you need take that chance or you will never know if it would have ever worked out. At least you can say you tried. For those of you that know me, know that I do not  like changes. It actually makes me very uncomfortable. My husband was trying to get us to move to BC for years but I couldn't do it because I was so scared of the unknown. Finally I decide to take the plunge and it completely worked out. We made some great friends, the kids go to a good school and everyone is really happy. I honestly wished I would have moved much earlier but wasn't ready. If I didn't take that chance, I would have always had that what if….

The best memories are made at the Witzke's cottage…

I made this sign for my father and mother in law as a house warming gift. They have a nice cottage located at Lake Asessippi (That spelling gets me very time) in a little community called Cottage Cove. It is located on a ski hill right beside the lake. It felt suiting to incorporate fishing and skiing into their cottage sign. I had to laugh, my father in law - the comedian -  says I want the last name big so when I'm old and can't see, I can will know where I live. lol This little community is super cool, in the summer you can walk down to the lake and fish and in the winter ski from your front door to the ski hill. Quite a cool set up. The only thing stopping from us visiting is the sixteen hour drive to get there! This sign measures 4' x 2' on a multiple board, it was such so much fun sign to make! Maybe someday, I will see it in person again!

Money can't buy happiness but it can buy wine which is kind of the same thing…

Wine, wine, wine!! After a long day who doesn't want to sit down with a nice glass of Vino. I may indulge in a nice, well deserved bottle..i mean glass of wine after my kids go to bed or when I am in the garage working on a sign.  I'm sure there are a few people out there who would have to agree :) Its funny because before I met my husband I never really drank wine. I never really even knew the difference between wines Just that there was red, white and blush….But my husbands family, the huge wine connoisseurs that they are..gave me this HUGE goblet of Conundrum the first time I met them..and the rest is history. lol It's still my favourite white wine to this day and it seems every person I introduce to it, love it!
I think when people say they don't like red wine or white wine or wine at all…they just haven't found the right one for them!!

Welcome to our campfire…

Everyone loves a great night around the campfire!! I have made quite a few of these signs, they were a hot, hot commodity this summer. Adding your family name on the bottom gives it an added touch or might ensure that it won't get stolen from your campsite. lol

One thing I love about living on an acreage is the clear, cloudless nights…star watching at its best!! You don't realize natures beauty until you are away from that light pollution. My son uses an app on his iPad called "Skyview". He simply points to a star and it shows the constellation that it belongs to. It's a super cool App for your little ones (not that my kids get lots of game time) but this is when it's an exception. His favourite constellation is the Warrior.

After this summer my kids are getting to be pros at roasting hotdogs and making s'mores. The adults however, may have been known on a few or more occassions to have be toasted like the marshmallows. Oh well, what is summer for! lol Good times and making memories.

Love is not about how much you say I love you but how much you prove its true…

I hung this in our bedroom as a constant reminder that even though our lives are busy and some days even when we are so tired…. a simple hug, kiss or sign of affection goes a very long way. Showing someone you love them doesn't have to be a grand gesture. After twelve years together and ten years married my husband still does all those little things.. a few things are still opening my door for me, tells me I'm beautiful, gives me a back rub, lets me occasionally sleep in.. anyone can say I LOVE YOU…but showing someone is where it counts!

At the Lake…

This was the first sign that I ever made (4'X2'). At the lake is all the rings that we do at the Shuswap. I especially love visit the sugar shack. After a day of boating it is a tradition of ours to visit this little shack that sells candy and popcorn. Our kids get to pick out five cent candies. It's all about making memories and traditions that your kids will remember and making the most out of summer!

A new look…

I recently changed the name of my blog to Trucks and Tutus Custom Creations. My main creating focus has somewhat switched from scrapbooking to making wooden signs. I know quite opposite hobbies. I still scrapbook from time to time but making signs has become my main focus right now.

I decided on the name Trucks and Tutus because since I last posted, our life has definitely changed. My last post talked about how we were celebrating the first birthday of our daughter. Since then, we have celebrated the first birthday of our third child, Tristyn. Yes, life has been pretty busy and somewhat crazy at times with three kids under the age of seven! Since my sons are crazy about trucks and my daughter sure loves here tutus…it was a better suiting name and since I already had a blog created, I thought I would continue it as for both :) Another big family change we had, was we moved to the mountains and away from big city life. We moved onto to a small town called Blind bay (its by Salmon Arm and in the heart of the Shuswaps) and onto an acreage. We wanted our children to grow up with space to run, snowmobile, quad, boat and live the BC lifestyle … one we were not able to achieve living in Spruce Grove AND I tell you… life could not be so opposite from what I was used to. We have experienced bears, moose, coyotes, clear nights full of stars by the fire pit, NO mosquitos, hot - humid summers and very a mild winter…so far. It's been absolutely wonderful living in the Shuswaps so far..maybe minus the bears and coyotes. lol.

My husband now also works out of town. To occupy myself after the kids go to bed, and instead of watching TV… I make signs. It started out as making decor for my new house but has turned into a hobby that I am quite passionate about. I buy all my own wood… I load it into my SUV…yes I do some funny looks but I get it all to fit. I also cut, prep, stain, paint and create the signs all on my own. Totally addictive AND totally satisfying. On this blog I am happy to share what I have created.
